An Update

I have been in the deep thralls of pregnancy vomiting/nausea. Yeah, I am one of those lucky that get to 100% tell and know that I am pregnant. It's been hard, as I cannot do a whole lot, and Mike has just been amazing and stepped in as both a mom and dad. I am praying this eases off in a few weeks, because throwing up 5-6 times a day (some days more) is really not my thing.

The photo-bomb above are Collin with his two favorite people in the world (outside of the Grandparents and some other lucky relatives) that he likes to call his "bestest friends", Zoe and Owen. Zoe LOVES, LOVES, LOVES Collin. I will have to photograph some of the love notes she sends Collin's way, because they crack me up. Her brother Owen I am sure just finds it annoying, as he rolls his 4-year old eyes with every 6-year old declaration of love she shares, to his best friend. It's really quite funny. We love having them over.

Collin turned 4 last week, and while he can drive us to the edge in some moments, he just really is a funny and caring kid. We can not wait for him to be a big brother again, as I know he is just going to be so soft and sweet with this little baby.

So update on the wee little one. We met with perinatology, and were able to see our little one's heart beat. It was still early at that point, so it was still low at 114 beats per minute. I am going to be having a really cool new test at 11 weeks, where they draw blood from me, and localize the DNA from the baby, and see if there are any trisomies or issues. I have always had to have a CVS or Amnio, which are painful and potentially harmful to the baby (did I mention soooo painful?) It is cool, so we will know around 12-13 weeks what this baby will be. I still say girl most days, and have had a few dreams about a little girl. The strangest was last night, when I delivered the sweetest little girl early, although all was well, and she actually was delivered in the car, so I REALLY hope none of that comes true. Here is a pic from the earlier ultrasound (we had another, but it really was just to hear the heartbeat, which was 147, and the picture is not very clear.)

I will post pictures from Collin's birthday. We are going to have a party when it gets a little warmer. Better late then never, right?

Just Thinking

My "morning" sickness has set in something fierce. And with a headache that moves to migraines, I just begin to feel useless. I still try to work through it, but it is not always possible. I am grateful though to feel this way, as it probably will be the last time I ever feel this. I have still had my small freak-out moments, but I have this underlying peaceful feeling that all will be well. Not sure if that is what will happen for sure, but the feelings of peace are very much appreciated.

I have been doing a lot of thinking about this little baby (who feels like a girl most days, but who knows?) I do not know what is in plan for he or she, but I am just so excited to meet this little baby. I am excited to pull out the baby tub, to cuddle a fresh and clean newborn. I am excited to see this little baby grow, to feel the first movements. I cannot wait to see Collin and Jacob so excited to greet their little sibling, to see them encourage him or her to move, crawl, and walk. Tears of joy spring to my eyes when I envision this little one, but also some bittersweet as this will be the last time I experience this in the biological sense.

I know I may sound crazy, making plans, but if I believe or act like this little one is automatically doomed, I will make myself crazy and will not be able to enjoy these moments. So I just hope. Hope this little one will be okay, hope that we will be able to have a non-eventful pregnancy, and that we will be able to make many, many, many memories with our three little ones.

A Little Surprise

There is always a story. This is ours. Last week, I had not been feeling well. I chalked it up to the flu that had hit our house. But I started being able to smell EVERYTHING, become a bit more emotional, and my sweet husband started to pick up on all of this. He asked if my monthly friend had visited, and I was realizing that blessed friend had not. I had a really old pregnancy test, so I took it. I checked it a few minutes later, sure it would be negative, but it was not so. Chalking the two lines up to the test being old, I told Mike I thought I might be pregnant, and that I needed to head to the store. Took another one at home, and sure enough, two lines. I started freaking out. Why was I freaking out, besides the obvious history we have had? Well, I was on the pill. Yep, birth control failed us. So now we get to become buddies for a 4th time with our favorite Dr. over at maternal fetal medicine (we go next Friday) and the expected due date is October 6th (although I refuse to have another baby in October, so it will be the last few days in September) but we are such a mix of emotions.

Mike thinks it will be a girl, so do my mother-in-law, my sort of work-mom, my mom, and a few friends. I am not sure, as it changes from day to day. I think I am 60% thinking it will be a girl, but I was wrong with Jacob, but right with Lilly and Ryker. We are just praying, praying, praying that this little baby will be HEALTHY! I have surprisingly a lot of peace about it, which I am not sure stems from the fact that Jacob is here, and that he was okay, or because this baby really is okay, but we are just trying to be optimistic. We will post along the way, and keep you informed.
